Apple is planning on using the same OLED panels in the iphone 11 and iphone 11 pro that are currently used in Samsung’s Galaxy S10 and Galaxy note 10, according to a new report from South Korea.
For the past two years Apple has used customized OLED panels, supplied by Samsung, in the iphone X, iphone XS, and iphone XS Max. however that is set to change this time around according to THE ELEC.
Whereas the previous models used a display material codenamed LT2, one known as M9 will be used this year.
The report doesn’t make it clear why there has been a change this time around, nor whether the displays will be calibrated differently when used on iPhones. Samsung’s phones have long been known for their saturated and dynamic colors whereas Apple prefers to offer something a little much more neutral. how that will pan out given the use of the same displays across both ranges of phones remains to be seen.
Given recent reports we will see Apple announce the 2019 iphone range in little less than a month. September 10th appears to be the date that we are all waiting for thanks to a recent discovery of a screenshot in iOS 13 beta 7. That screenshot shows the date of Tuesday 10th in the calendar app’s icon, suggesting the image will be used on the big day.
All questions will be answered when people get to spend some hands-on time with the phones and we’ll bring you all the info here, too.
