Tesla’s reverse Summon feature Slated For release By Year’s end

Tesla drivers could be having their automobile drop them off and then go and park itself by the end of the year, if the company manages to hit a deadline. given past experiences, that is far from a given.

The reverse Summon feature is something that was first teased by CEO Elon Musk in July of 2020.

Notateslaapp.com notes that Musk then said the feature would arrive within the next four months — but two years later, it’s yet to materialize.

Reverse Summon is the opposite of smart Summon. Whereas smart Summon drives to you from a vehicle parking spot, users who activate reverse Summon would have their Tesla drop them off at a location, perhaps closest to the entrance of a mall, and then find a vehicle parking spot.

Now, Paril Jain, the manager of Autopilot motion Planning, appears to have confirmed that the feature will arrive “before the end of this year,” with Musk having said that he’s already using the technology himself. It’s worked well, he said, before adding that “we need to validate it in all kinds of weather, like heavy rain, snow, dust.”

Previous reports suggest that reverse Summon will allow people to get out of their automobile and then instruct it to find somewhere to park, with three options available; “closest to the entrance, nearby a cart return, and the end of the vehicle parking lot for those who like to avoid tight spots that cause door dings.” Musk also confirmed that the release could happen as early as November.
